Method
What we collect
For each airport: hangar and shade rent by type and size, waitlist length (names, position or estimated years), and current availability. We only collect what the airport or a named, reputable source has published.
Sources, in order of preference
- Airport or county fee schedules, rates-and-charges documents and ordinances.
- Official airport web pages (rates, waitlist pages, published waitlist PDFs).
- Government meeting records (council and commission reports, approved leases).
- Named news reporting (for example AOPA). Labeled as news, used mainly where FBOs or private operators set the rate.
We don't use estimate sites, listing aggregators, forum posts or AI-generated summaries as a source for any number.
Verification
A number is marked verified only if we read it in the source itself: the fetched page, the downloaded PDF text or, for scanned PDFs, the page image. Every record shows the URL, the date checked (2026-10-18) and how it was checked. If a source blocked our fetch, or we only saw a number in a search-engine summary, the item is marked unverified and the number isn't published.
Record status
- Verified: every item shown was verified.
- Partly verified: the numbers shown are verified, and we've flagged other known data as unverified.
- Unverified: the airport is listed, with no numbers yet.
Caveats
- Rates go out of date. Each item carries its effective date where the source gives one.
- Different airports measure differently (per unit, per sq ft, with or without tax). We quote each source's own terms rather than converting them.
- We only count waitlist names when the airport publishes the list. We don't republish personal names.
- Private hangar owners and FBOs often don't publish rates. Where that's the case, we say so.
Independence
Paid listings and sponsorships are labeled Sponsored (FTC) and never change the data.
